Let's hope the cease-fire in Syria will hold

Will the announced cease-fire in Syria hold? We should all hope it will because the situation in that country – indeed in the entire region and beyond it – has been a five-year horror story that only a biblical type dogma-nut would love to see continue.

Of course, even a nut of that caliber will not come out at this stage and say openly he would love to see the blood continue to flow, and the refugees continue to flee. But there was a time, at the start of that civil war, when Jewish fanatics came out and openly said they love the idea that both sides in the conflict are killing each other. Well, these bloodthirsty savages must have had their fill of horror and human misery to last them a lifetime.

But there is another way for the same kind of fanatics to express the same kind of craven desires, even at this level of the horror, without appearing to be so bloodthirsty or savage they would be run out of town. One of these savages is Benny Avni who wrote: “Why Kerry's Syria cease-fire is already failing,” published on September 14, 2016 in the New York Post.

The way to express that kind of depravity while sounding as “wise” as a temple Pharisee is to assert that the cease-fire is already failing. And the way to do this is for the depraved writer to fetch the most assertive language he can find in his toolbox and use it to describe his sentiment. Benny Avni found the “Hail Mary” analogy, and used it to describe John Kerry's effort to bring about that cease-fire in Syria. Thus, Avni started his presentation with these words: “Another one of Kerry's 'Hail Mary' deal is well on its way to collapsing.” This is to be as bloodthirsty as always, as savage as ever.

Avni goes on to savor the sweet taste of blood by listing the delicious events that did much to water his mouth. Here they are: (1) “Fire is yet to cease.” (2) “The UN was to start delivering humanitarian aid … but aid convoys hadn't yet moved.” (3) “Syrians are yet to benefit from the Kerry-Lavrov handshake.” (4) “Kerry himself 'reportedly' was skeptical the deal would work.” (5) “The deal will get even wobblier next week.” There is enough here to throw a banquet for a flock of vampires.

Having alluded to the content of his craven desires, he let the readers know what he wants to see unfold in Syria. To do this in a subtle way, he delivered his message in a language that is so ambiguous it would not provoke someone to run him out of town. Avni then gave a detailed account as to why the cease-fire must not hold in Syria, and why an alternative to the Kerry effort must be sought.

Avni begins this part of the presentation by lamenting the current situation as it looks to him on the ground: “The Russians are interested in squashing any alternative to [Assad] including the groups America has tried to cultivate since the war began.” But because “there's no military solution” or a “diplomatic solution for Syria,” and because it looks like “Assad [shall] remain in power” insisting along with everyone else that “Syria must remain a unified country … outsiders [must now] come up with a viable partition plan for Syria”.

Partitioning all the Arab countries if not all Muslim countries, being the grand strategy that the Jews have developed to dominate the region … and go from there to dominate the world, it is not surprising to see them call for this to be Syria's fate. The problem as Avni sees it, however, is that Obama did not get it, which is why Putin, whose “goals are at odds with ours,” got there first and started “turning Syria into a Russian outpost”.

Where to go from here? Benny Avni did not ask this question but answered it nonetheless. Because he knew that his answer might hurt some people needlessly, he used his writer's skills to put things delicately. To this end, he suggested, without proof, that President Obama believes “America has no skin in the Syrian game”.

Because of that, Benny Avni went on to say: “we should steer clear of peacemaking there.” He said “we” but the message is directed at Barack Obama.

Why did Avni ask for that? This is why: “So the next president will have to walk away from Kerry's deal-making, and listen to the hawks advocating a more muscular approach in Syria”.

What he wants is blood, always blood and nothing but blood.
