Here is an example highlighting the sorry state of American punditry.
It came under the title:
“Biden's Obama-style bumbling of foreign policy begins,” and the subtitle:
“Rejoining Iran nuclear deal, talking tough about China and Russia without
doing anything were features of a failed policy.” It was written by Jed Babbin,
and published on February 26, 2021 in The Washington Times.
Babbin is here displaying the
syndrome of an American corps of pundits that cannot think outside the box. Now
that the pundits have two clear boxes out of which to ply their trade, the
banality of their contribution to the public debate, speaks of the intellectual
poverty to which America has sunk.
The way the pundits' brains
operate nowadays, rests on the reality that they must choose between two
paradigms. One choice is packed in the Barack Obama box; the other in the
Donald Trump box. And so, when it comes to evaluating the decisions that the
newly elected President Joe Biden is making, the pundits determine that it is
the same as Obama's decisions, or the same as Trump's decisions. And between
the two sames, “mon coeur balance,” like goes the French saying.
Having decided that President
Biden is on a path that will lead to the full embrace of Barack Obama’s
paradigm, Jed Babbin is urging him to turn away, and choose to embrace the
Donald Trump paradigm instead. In fact, this is what the Babbin presentation is
all about.
What's informative about the
Jed Babbin article is that much is revealed about the way he views himself,
being a supporter of Donald Trump, as opposed to the way he views the
supporters of Barack Obama. In fact, it is in the difference between those two
visions that in the end –– the way that each camp relates to the subject of
foreign policy –– will be determined.
Stated briefly, the Obama team
is viewed as one part of an open, welcoming and optimistic league whose members
foolishly play friendly games with each other on the basis that they are all
equal and having fun living the good life. By contrast, the Trump team is
viewed as a closed, exclusive and pessimistic league whose members wisely play
with each other only to train in preparation for the day when they’ll be called
upon to crush the lesser breeds who are not “of the body,” so to speak.
Here, in condensed form, is
how Babbin describes what displeases him about the Obama foreign policy:
“President Joe Biden said that
the United States is determined to reengage with Europe, to consult with them.
It is exactly the kind of speech that the Europeans wanted to hear. Europe
embraced Biden's return to the status quo ante, i.e., the foreign policy of
Obama, as he tries to rejoin the nuclear weapons deal with Iran. Joe Biden
coddled Europe, speaking tough about China and Russia but doing nothing. These
were features of the Obama failed foreign policy … allowing Europe to ignore
its own defense, and trade with Russia and China without limit”.
Just think about it, the man
is unhappy that the President of the United States is working to rekindle the
friendship that used to exist between America and its closest allies and
wartime comrades. Do you remember seeing a human gesture meant to reach out to
others, being so reviled by someone? If you forgot, then do yourself a favor
and start a search in the infinitely long paper-trail created by the Jews, much
of which contains incitement telling Americans to hate Americans, and never try
to reach out to them. What you discover may revolt you, but you’ll be valuably
informed.
Now, in condensed form, here
is how Babbin describes what pleases him about the Trump foreign policy:
“Mr. Biden should, as Mr.
trump did, demand more investment in defense by the NATO members directed
specifically at countering Russia's new weapon systems, such as the
nuclear-capable systems like the Poseidon underwater drone and its
nuclear-powered hypersonic Skyfall cruise missile. The Poseidon is nuclear
powered meaning its range is almost unlimited. The nuclear-powered hypersonic
Skyfall also has virtually unlimited range. Both are first-strike weapons”.
Do you remember ever reading
an article about horrible weapons of mass destruction, without the author
mentioning, at least in passing, that there ought to be an attempt to negotiate
arms limitation to control the existing regime of weapons escalation and
proliferation? If you can't remember, then do yourself a favor and start a
search in the infinitely long paper-trail created by the Jews, much of which
contains instructions for America to increase its armament as well as readiness
to go to war.
Jed Babbin ends his
presentation with these words: “Many of us derided Mr. Obama’s mistakes and
learned from them. It is apparent that Mr. Biden learned nothing from those
mistakes”.
It is obvious that Jed Babbin
and those like him have learned the wrong lessons, kept as they were in the box
where the only fun they were allowed to have, was to play wargames, which they
did to the point of suffering the self-inflicted shellshocks they will carry
with them to their graves.
Too bad they’ll never know what it’s like to live a normal life without constantly looking for something or someone to fear, hate and prepare to fight to the death, though they might once in a while sing the refrain: Do the same as Trump to avoid doing the same as Obama.
