Imagine the Chinese President Xi Jinping sitting with his second in command, reading a report about recent American military and diplomatic moves in China's neighborhood.
Jinping says to his minion: I
never thought these Yankee noodles were that smart. I beg your pardon, says the
minion: They call themselves Yankee Doodle, not noodle. What does it matter,
cries Jinping: they made a doodle soup out of the Taiwan issue, and we're the
chicken in their broth? Visibly worried, the minion asks: Are you telling me
we're going to chicken out?
Apparently, Richard Haass and
David Sacks, both of whom are of the Council on Foreign Relations, believe that
they have the magic formula by which to scare the Chinese out of their wits,
make them forget that Taiwan is a province of China, and get them to think of
it as an independent nation instead.
Haass and Sacks are so
convinced that their formula is right on the nose, they wrote a long article to
explain it. Their piece came under the title: “American Support for Taiwan Must
Be Unambiguous,” and the subtitle: “To Keep the Peace, Make Clear to China That
Force Won't Stand.” It was published on September 2, 2020 in the online
magazine, Foreign Affairs.
The writers tell what security
arrangements are currently in force between the United States and Taiwan. They
also tell how the arrangements can be altered to make them so scary, they will
deter the Chinese of the mainland from making a move against Taiwan today or
tomorrow; “From Here to Eternity” or beyond that.
But when you look closely at
what Richard Haass and David Sacks are offering, you find it to be the same old
wine that went sour long ago, except that our two writers poured it into a new
jug, which doesn't even pretend to be jazzier than the old bottle. It simply
sits there like an insurance policy that will never be cashed. What it does, is
give the inhabitants of Taiwan the false sense of an American protection, and
the courage to take risky steps that might someday test America's sincerity in
coming to Taiwan's aid if and when push will come to shove with mainland China.
Whereas the Americans
intervened in the Balkans, Iraq and Libya where they knew they could bomb the
countries below into the stone age without losing as much as single aircraft,
America chickened out when it came to opposing the USSR/Russia interventions in
countries that range from Hungary in 1956 to Crimea in 2014. That's because
America was not going to risk the lives of its people for an outcome it knew
will be costly in lives and limbs, fighting another military superpower. And
even if victory were assured in any of those cases, it was never certain that
it could be sustained for long.
Therefore, the message here is
to the effect that the Taiwanese must not expect America to go to war against
military superpower China just to hand them the pleasure of living on an island
whose status they wish will be classified, if not as an independent nation, at
least as a breakaway province of China that will so remain indefinitely.
But that's precisely the
situation of no-war and no-peace that the foreign policy crowd of America wants
to see. It is a big crowd that includes the military industrial complex, the
State Department, the intelligence agencies, the army of neocon pundits and
last but not least the crime syndicate that calls itself Israel. They all get
paid handsomely with taxpayer money for scaring the taxpayers and politicians
about an impending Armageddon that never comes but for which America must
constantly prepare. And the crowd that revels in the status quo, loves it the
way it is, and wants it that way forever and ever.
That’s because for doing this
service, individuals are remunerated to the tune of hundreds of thousands of
dollars a year, which allows them to live the high life, while Israel receives
a whopping 4 billion dollars a year from official sources alone in addition to
what it gets under the table –– some of it legally, and some illegally but all
of it under corrupt conditions and by corrupt methods. This allows Israel to
remain afloat economically while producing domestically nothing more than the
poorest of the Third World countries.
This being the reality of the
situation, what do these mooches do to make the old song sound like a new song,
and expect to get more taxpayer money this year than last year? What they do is
shown in the following excerpts, taken from the Haass and Sacks article:
“A change in policy is
necessary given that Trump has sown seeds of doubt as to whether the US would
come to the aid of its friends and allies [in Europe.] Xi Jinping could have
concluded that the US will not come to Taiwan's defense. The US must restore
deterrence by announcing a policy of strategic clarity. The White House could
articulate this new policy by reiterating US support for its one-China policy
but also stating that the US would respond should Taiwan come under Chinese
attack. The statement would make clear that the US does not support Taiwan
independence, thus deterring Taiwan from attempting to capitalize on the new US
policy. By itself, a statement is not enough. The US must pair it with steps
that bolster deterrence. It should station additional air and naval forces in
the region, redouble efforts to disperse these forces, and make preparing for a
Taiwan contingency a top priority for Department of Defense planners”.
As can be seen, what's playing
here is the Jewish opportunist game. Trump said a few things about the European
allies, and the Jews dumped on him saying that Xi Jinping will now believe he
will not defend Taiwan. So they asked him to station more troops in Asia as if
to atone for his mistake.
Meanwhile, using words like “restore” and “reiterate,” Haass and Sacks hereby reassure their concerned readers that nothing has changed. They reiterate that the wine is the same old wine, and the soup is made with Chinese noodles, not American doodles.
