Those who wish to see proof that America 's think tanks have been
transformed into septic tanks, and want to know something about the mechanics
of the transformation; they can thank Hillel Fradkin and Lewis Libby of the
Hudson Institute for showing the world how they have turned that place into a
dump of intellectual raw sewage. Having created a unit called Center on the
Muslim World, they now express in black and white a cherished fantasy of
theirs, one that points to their mental collapse as well as to the rotting
state of the Institute they took over and remodeled in their image.
What they have expressed in black and white has the title: “Turkey and the Dream of Ottoman Revival” and the
subtitle: “The Middle East isn't returning to an era of Ottoman-enforced peace
and stability – no matter how badly Ankara
wants it.” It was published in the Wall Street Journal on May 16, 2013. This is
an article in which the authors discuss the remarks made recently by Ahmet
Davutoglu, the Foreign Minister of Turkey, to an audience of college students
in Turkey .
They begin by laying out the views of the Foreign Minister;
something I must accept at face value since I do not have a transcript of the
speech. This done, they reject the Minister's views – which they have the right
to do. But then they say why they reject those views, and this is where the
septic tank explodes sending its content to hit not a fan that is not there,
but sends the content into a hurricane-like storm that takes the stuff to the
world via the electronic highway known as the internet.
They describe the minister's views at the outset as an
attempt to turn the clock back 100 years to a time “when the Ottoman
Empire held sway.” And they express the view that “the minister is
less likely to see a new era of Turkish-enforced regional stability than
something much less pleasing to his taste.” But when you go through their
article to see where the Minister may have mentioned a revival of the Ottoman
Empire or the thought that Turkey
will hold sway, you find nothing of the sort.
In fact, what the minister said was that the Anglo-French
agreement known as Sykes-Picot which divided the Middle
East long ago into its current configuration, has not worked. He
added that the configuration is now dissolving, and that something else will
replace it. He then expressed the opinion that the replacement will better
reflect the wishes of the people living in the region – and they are “not only
Turks and Kurds, but also Albanians, Bosnians and Arabs.” He laid out a
scenario according to which all these people may come together and develop a
common purpose that will serve the interests of everyone.
No, this will not happen, say Fradkin and Libby. Instead,
what will happen “is an era of Middle Eastern disunity and disorder.” So you
want to know why they believe this, and they tell you why. Looking at the
answer, you will be surprised even if you're too young to remember the decade
of the Sixties when a debate of the same sort erupted and caused the Jewish
organizations to intensify their effort to colonize and dominate the cultural
life of North America . But if you're old
enough to remember that debate, their answer will hit you in the face like a
pesky Jewish spitball.
The debate that erupted in the Sixties pitted the handful of
Arabs (yours truly included) who were defending their side of the story against
a massive Jewish propaganda machine that was as relentless then as it is today
but more intense. The Jews complained that the Arabs “wish to turn the clock
back 20 years.” This was taking us to the era of Jewish terrorism when their
agents were assassinating people and blowing up Arab and British installations
in Palestine .
That campaign was followed by another one during which time a
number of home-grown Jewish sleeper agents sprinted into action and blew up
foreign embassies (including the American) in several Arab capitals (including
Cairo). And they did not stop here. They went on to invent the letter-bomb
(remember the American uni-bomber?) which they mailed to scientists in Egypt , killing
a few and disfiguring others.
Okay then. But instead of turning the clock back 20 years to
the era of Jewish terrorism, what did the Jewish propaganda machine of the
Sixties wish to talk about? Well, get this now, my friend; they wanted to talk
about the right of Jews to turn the clock back not 20 years but 2,000 years –
to a time when the Hebrews lived in Palestine. By that, they meant any Jew –
authentic, fake, recent convert or old hack, whether they are of a Hebrew
origin, a Semitic origin or any origin. And this is when ordinary people with a
simple common sense laughed at them. And this was the time they declared – get
this again, my friend – that there was no such a thing as an “Arab side of the
story.”
They went on to decree that there was only the Jewish side,
and if someone wanted to know what the Arabs thought and felt, they could ask a
Jew who would gladly tell them all they needed to know about the Arabs. There
was no need for anyone to talk to an Arab because the Jew had all the answers
and was willing to share everything. And the Jewish organizations went on to
intensify the drive to colonize and dominate the cultural and intellectual life
of this hapless continent.
Likewise, now that our authors have accused the Turkish
minister of seeing the clock turn back 100 years, they say they see it turn
back 400 years, even 500 years. And this is how they put it: “Indeed, the Middle East may soon resemble the ancient 'disunity' of
the 16th and 17th centuries.” But if you believe there is enough here to blow
your mind, brace yourself for an even bigger bang, my friend.
Look at this: “And meanwhile, Kurds, so long abused by Ankara , may in two decades outnumber Turks in Turkey . They
may have their own state in Iraq
sooner than that.” Well, even if we assume that no Kurd from Turkey will go to live in the nation of
Kurdistan which is being carved out of Iraq ,
it will take an eternity for the Kurds in Turkey to outnumber the Turks
there. What follows shows you why this is so:
The numbers are such that there are almost as many as 4
Turks for every Kurd in Turkey .
This means that for the Kurdish population to catch up to the Turkish
population, the Kurds will have to grow at a rate that is 7 percent higher than
the Turkish rate. Since the Turks already grow at a rate that is between 1.5
and 2 percent, it means that the Kurds will have to grow at a rate that is
between 8.5 and 9 percent over the period of two decades mentioned by the
authors.
You know what this means, my friend? It means that every
Kurdish woman will have to bear a child every two years throughout her child
bearing years without fail. Nuts, you say; this can only be a wild Jewish fantasy that points to the mental
collapse of those two authors.
And they use those defunct brains to posit a psychedelic
dream which they follow with an impossible recommendation. Here is the dream:
“order and peace in [the] new era may still depend on … the U.S. ” And here
is the recommendation, which they put in the form of a question: “Will America
resume a strong Middle East presence
willingly?” Or will it see itself forced into the role?
These people are hopeless.
