Those who call themselves hawks to avoid being called warmongers are on the prowl looking for an issue that will give them reason to come right out and advocate bombing someone, a spectacle that has been cheering their hearts like children feel when seeing fireworks on New Year’s Eve.
In the past, the
warmongers made it so that the Soviet Union represented the bogeyman they said
was endangering life on Earth, therefore must be fought to the death. But until
this happened, America was urged to look around and identify lesser powers that
behaved badly while in the Soviet camp or calling themselves non-aligned with
any of the superpowers. Once spotted, America was then pushed to prepare the
American public and the world for the bombing campaign that was to come.
But times have
changed. The Soviet Union has collapsed, and was replaced by a Russia whose
population stands at half what it was. After a period of uncertainty, Russia
has emerged as a more vigorous country with a military that is developing at
such a rapid pace, it has deterred America from taking into NATO anymore of the
countries that used to form the Warsaw Pact.
In addition, China
that was thought to have sent itself back a century or more with its 1989
response to the Tiananmen Square incident, proved instead to be governed by a
fabulously resilient system that propelled it to the rank of superpower in less
than a generation. Blocked by America from joining the international space
station, it built and put into orbit its own station, then saw Russia join it
to develop a program that will have them explore deep space, and not just the
near-Earth space.
And then, the past
blunders of America caught up with it when, in the span of a decade, North
Korea emerged from the rank of a destitute Third World basket-case to project
itself as a nuclear juggernaut equipped with hydrogen bombs, intercontinental
ballistic missiles, submarine launched missiles, hypersonic gliders and cruise
missiles. It stands tall, looks at Uncle Sam in the eye, and dares him to make a
wrong move that will give the “dear leader” of the North a reason to teach
America a lesson it will never forget, according to the North Korean way of
thinking.
As if this were not
enough, Iran that was beaten to a pulp by American supported Iraq of the Saddam
era, has resolved to become powerful enough to stand up to any country in the
region that America may decide to support. And having relied on itself to defend
its people and territory, Iran decided to go beyond that, and make itself so
powerful, America will think twice before attacking it.
This is the new
world that America’s warmongers are prowling up and down the map looking for an
opening that will give them the confidence to bark as loudly before. To their
distress, however, they still feel differently than they used to when America
was the undisputed power that no one dared to challenge. And so, in a much
softer voice than before, they now mumble a few suggestions as to how America
should go about making its voice heard by its foes and by its old friends who began
to think of new ways to enhance their security.
You can see an
example of that in the Washington Times editorial that came under the title:
“Is America still the last, best hope of Earth?” and the subtitle: “Communism
somehow viewed as more benign than Nazism – and it shouldn’t be.” It was
published on January 3, 2022.
What you will
detect in that editorial is the creepy way by which the warmongers slide into
the hearts and minds of the Beltway zombies, and make them believe that the
world is in such danger, they must act now and vote to increase the military
budget, or the world will go to hell in a handbasket because something worse
than the Nazi regime is lurking in the shadows, waiting for the best time to
pounce on the world and consume it in a hellish ball of fire.
Here is the
condensed version of that editorial:
“Ronald Reagan
pushed and prodded the Soviet Union until it collapsed. By allowing the
Cold War to conclude with a whimper, America and the other western powers
allowed the crimes committed by the Soviets to go unpunished. This was an
error. The atrocities committed by the Soviets have been allowed to slip down
the memory hole unlike those for which Nazi Germany is daily remembered. A
period of reassessment produced a generation that cares not why the values of
the West need to prevail over those of Karl Marx. Now the collectivists and the
central planners are on the march once again. The Chinese Communists have begun
another long march toward global dominance. Will America respond, or will it
allow them to succeed unchallenged? The answer is uncertain. This is an
existential consideration. The threat posed by the Communists and collectivists
remains. Will America continue to stand for what is right, or will we allow the
nature of this nation to be changed by those who don’t care what this nation
means to so much of the world? We would do well to consider now what our answer
will be”.
As can be seen,
the editors of the Washington Times have perfected the method by which they use
the virtual chain of non-existent associations to reach the conclusion that
when it comes to killing people, collectivist Soviet Union was worse than the
Nazis.
Because of this,
say the warmongers, the Chinese Communists who are collectivists of the long
march variety, must be considered as bad as the old Soviet Union, which means
that they too, are worse than the Nazis.
And lest we forget
that this too means the collectivist Socialists of America will turn the
country into something worse than the Nazis, the warmongers assert.
Now imagine what the braindead zombies of the Beltway do when they hear a presentation like that. You got it; they run to their desks in the House and the Senate, and vote to arm America with weapons it does not need.
