A Termite-infested House about to collapse

Some might look at the internal political situation in the United States and see a wooden house that's so infested with termites eating it from the foundation to the roof – and determine that it won't be long before the house collapses. Whatever definition you assign to the word “collapse,” America will continue to exist as a nation because it cannot be invaded by a foreign power that will dissolve it and disperse its people.

But if the internal political situation of America will endure no matter what, the same cannot be said about the country's external situation. That is, if most Americans do not care about their country's standing in the world as long as they have a good job and enough money to live comfortably, a few of them hunger for the country to establish its exceptional credentials by imposing its will (benevolent or evil) on the world. And they are the ones who run up and down the wooden structure of the house, eating it in the belief that they are doing something exceptionally heroic for America and for what they call the free and democratic world. They’ll be disappointed.

You'll meet these termites when you go over three pieces of work that were published on the same day, January 6, 2018. One piece came under the title: “Israel Digs a Grave for the Two-State Solution,” which is an editorial of the New York Times. Another piece came under the title: “Finding the Way Forward on Iran,” which is a column written by Bret Stephens and published in the New York Times. The third piece came under the title: “The Crack-up of Theocracy” and the subtitle: “Can Iran's clerical regime survive?” It was written by Reuel Marc Gerecht and published in both the printed and web editions of The Weekly Standard.

For several decades, the Jews of Israel and America, together with their barking dogs, have been working to gobble up what's left of Palestine; that which they call Judea and Samaria. They also created a thick fog of noise to hide the truth, and to make-believe that the Palestinians were the ones causing the repeated failures of the peace process. But the people who know how the Jews operate, predicted that when they will have the situation completely under control, the Jews will take a victory lap, beat their breasts, and congratulate each other for screwing America yet again, and for getting away with it.

This is what's happening now, and all of it is reflected in the editorial of the New York Times. Look at these passages: “Israeli politicians are enacting measures that will deal a death blow to the creation of a state for Palestinians … while paying lip service to supporting it, Netanyahu has continually undermined it.” That's the Jews beating their breast. But what about the gentiles at the New York Times? Where do they stand? Well, look at what they say: “Palestinians have also acted in ways that thwarted their goal of an independent state.” Do you know what that's like, my friend? It's like the self-appointed cop showing at the scene of an ongoing bank robbery and chiding the bank manager for not treating the robber with respect. Don't call these things editors of a major newspaper; call them Jewish-trained dogs barking the tune that took them 50 years to learn.

And that's why they went on to talk about the depravity of the Jewish occupier, not in terms of what the occupation is doing to the Palestinian victims, but in terms of the harm it brings to the Israeli occupier. Hear the sound of sick dogs barking in the following passages: “That path can lead only to greater strife and isolation for Israel … The threat to cut American contribution to the UN agency supporting five million Palestinian refugees will prompt more censure around the world.” And so they advise President Trump to “tell Israel it is going too far.” Did you notice the difference in tone as they spoke about the two sides? They told of THREATS to the victims, but spoke softly of the predators. They did not blurt out a “full-throated” denunciation of the Jewish depravity; they reminded the depraved that maybe, just maybe, they went a little too far. What a bunch of jerks!

As to Bret Stephens, he is in such a panic mode you'll see him run naked, holding up a white flag and crying out: The beast is cagey! The beast is cagey! Here are his actual words:

“It's not too soon to start rethinking the way we think about Iran. Western attention focuses on what Iran has; not enough on what Iran is. A better way to describe Iran is a kleptotheocracy. The supreme leader is fleecing the people. A foundation controlled by Khamenei had assets worth $95 billion. The Revolutionary Guard controls 15 percent of the economy. The kleptotheocracy is vulnerable to charges of hypocrisy. This is an opportunity for the free world to exploit. The U.S. government should release details on the billions in assets held by the Revolutionary Guard and the supreme leader. A West that wants to help can begin by exploiting the internal contradictions that define the regime that oppresses the people”.

To cure him of his self-inflicted fright, Bret Stevens should read the history of the “West's” futile effort to undermine the regime of Egypt's Nasser. It had something like a dozen radio stations spewing lies and half-truths about the Egyptian economy and other matters. The result was that the more venom they spewed, the more the people rallied around Nasser.

Decades later, their descendants did it to Mubarak. They said he stashed $75 billion overseas. But an Egyptian court found the man innocent; and Switzerland, where the money was supposed to be stashed, so confirmed. It turned out that Libya's Gaddafi had set up a heritage fund for his country, and it was worth $75 billion. The low life ignoramuses of the West, who get paid to produce crap, had mistaken Egypt for Libya, and personal account for heritage fund. This says the time has come to tell those “Western” creatures they are supposed to think with their brains, not their assholes.

As to Reuel Gerecht, he came up with the usual rambling of historical events which, true or false, are irrelevant to the subject he is discussing. And he ended the article with the usual Jewish determination that this proves America must ditch the Iran nuclear deal. Here is how he put it:

“We don't have any idea what Trump or Congress are going to do to support the protesters. This eruption ought to make it easier for the White House to walk away from the nuclear accord. But this administration and Congress don't seem willing to go there yet. The president, Nikki Haley and Mike Pompeo might change that. Republicans may be no different from Democrats: They are willing to support the protesters so long as they don't have to do anything serious, like jeopardize the nuclear deal”.

A house is a small thing compared to the size of a nation. This is why the termites that can degrade it are small creatures. But the nation – being much bigger than a house – can only be degraded by bigger creatures. These would be human beings that lost their humanity, and have begun to act like termites.

It's up to you now, dear reader, to determine who the human termites are in the article you just read.

Between knowing and knowing what to do

In the age of information overload that's upon us, if someone doesn't know something, it's because he doesn't want to know it. Surely, we can sympathize with that stance given that – at one time or another – we all said: I just don't care about this matter anymore, and I don't want to hear about it again.

In fact, there are reasons why someone would rather not know the truth about something, choosing to live in ignorance about it. One such reason could be that he believes the truth is constantly changing with the circumstances, and that the prevailing circumstances are not propitious for the kind of truth he wants to hear about. And so, he waits for the circumstances to change and for a new truth to establish itself. This stance is a little harder to defend, but some kind of defense can still be mounted for it.

What cannot be defended is to know what the prevailing truth is, and work against it while waiting for the circumstances to change when the truth that’s favorable to you finally prevails. It must be said, however, that playing this game is a dangerous gamble because to work against the truth is to tempt fate. And that's the sort of thing that will crush you now or crush you later – but crush you, it will.

When you adopt this attitude, you say that even though you know what the prevailing truth is, you don't know what to do with it except work to defeat it. Like it or not, this is precisely the stance that the Jews have taken for centuries. It is the reason why they never achieved anything, and never fully integrated into the family of humankind.

Now get this: despite the common knowledge that the Foundation for Defense of Democracies is nothing more than a comical outfit pretending to be a giant in research and thinking, it has provided enough material that can be used to illustrate the points discussed above. Two of its fellows: Reuel Marc Gerecht and his boss Clifford D. May wrote articles that show how the theory works.

Reuel Gerecht wrote: “The Secular Republic of Iran,” an article that also came under the subtitle: “In a theocracy, political protests will always have religious implications.” It was published on January 5, 2018 in the Wall Street Journal. Before that, on January 3, 2018, he had published: “The Worst Thing for Iran's Protesters? U.S. Silence,” published on January 3, 2018 in the New York Times. As to Clifford May, he wrote: “Eruption in Iran,” a column that also came under the subtitle: “And it's not just the economy, stupid.” It was published on January 2, 2018 in The Washington Times.

The truth that was hidden from the North American public was finally revealed by Reuel Gerecht on January 5, 2018. What follows is a condensed version of how he describes Iran the way that the world knows it. Compare this description with the way that Iran had been described on this continent, and you'll know what the difference between night and day looks like:

“Is the Islamic Republic's religious identity in transition? Is Islam in Iran losing its appeal? Is secularism rising? Iranians have learned that religious rule secularizes. There is no Iranian cleric, philosopher or writer who can attract large crowds with a defense of clerical rule. But plenty of thinkers could fill a stadium with critiques of religious dictatorship. The Iranian left has provided critiques of the holy law and its difficult integration into democratic governance. Iran's seminaries have seen plummeting enrollments. Few organizations still carry the revolutionary torch. Mosques all over Iran are empty at prayer times. Only 3,000 of the country's 57,000 mosques are fully operational; some only functioning during the religious months”.

Except for Israel where religious fanaticism is accelerating to unprecedented levels – rammed into the hearts and souls of youngsters, together with stories about the Holocaust – the rest of the Middle East is converting to secularism. But having converted a large segment of the American population into fanatic evangelicals to better exploit it, the operators of America's Jewish lobby promoted the myth that Iran is a caldron of Muslim fanaticism. As a consequence, the Jewish lobby kept urging America's political brass to treat Iran as such. And that's the fictitious theme Clifford May is expanding in his article.

He praised Sen. Tom Cotton and Sen. Ted Cruz for issuing statements based on that fiction. He complained that on the left, support for the Iranian rebels was less robust. And he chided former President Barack Obama for ignoring the missive commanding him to regurgitate what the Jews tried to stuff in his mouth.

Then guess what happened, my friend. Well, the next day, January 3, 2018, the same Reuel Gerecht who exposed the truth about Iran's secularism two days later, had published an article that harmonized with the thinking of his boss. Here is what he said:

“[it was] a mistaken idea about American and European policymakers that the Islamic Republic can evolve from theocracy to a traditional regime or to democracy. This hope reinforces the view that Washington needs to keep its distance from dissidents or risk compromising their position in Iranian society. This awful Western analysis has Iranian progenitors. In the 1990s, the Iranian left hoped that the Islamic Republic's theocracy would give way gradually to something kinder and democratic”.

Thus, you can see how in response to Clifford May's views expressed on January 2, Reuel Gerecht came out on January 3 and described as “awful” the analysis he praised on January 5.

It looks like the Jewish movement to monopolize America, and have it work exclusively for the benefit of Israel, is beginning to strain. Let's hope it will disintegrate because knowing about something is not enough. What's important is to know what to do with the information we gather.

Jewish fanaticism opposes having this kind of knowledge. If its influence disintegrates, America will again know what to do with the information that's coming from all directions in this age of information overload.

Witness the Jewish total Mobilization of America

Why do you think there hasn't been an op-ed piece in the Washington Post or anywhere else from the Vice President of the United States or someone of his ranking – denouncing the government of Myanmar for killing thousands of its own people who were doing nothing more than live their peaceful lives? The answer is simple. It is that the Jews didn't tell the Vice President or whomever, to write about that incident.

Now, go ahead and take a look at the editorial page in the January 3, 2018 edition of the Washington Post. You'll find in it an article that was written by Vice President Mike Pence under the title: “This Time, we will not be silent on Iran,” in which he denounces the government of the Islamic Republic of Iran for responding to a disturbance that got out of hand. When property was damaged; when people got hurt and others were killed, the government moved to bring the disturbance under control. And that's why the Vice President of the United States wrote to speak his mind. Or was that really his mind?

Doing the research, you'll find that very little was said in America's media about the genocide that took place in Myanmar, reflecting the attitude of America's government with regard to such matters anywhere in the world. However, you'll find that a tsunami of written and spoken opinion pieces has flooded the print and audio-visual media in America with regard to Iran's latest disturbances.

As to the authors of that tsunami, they were members of the mob of Jewish pundits and of course, their slavish follower: the government of the United States. In fact, it is now evident that when Vice President Mike Pence seemed to speak his mind, he was only parroting the collective mind of the Jewish mob whose interest is one hundred percent Israel's well being, and zero percent Myanmar.

The following six paragraphs represent the condensed version of what Vice President Mike Pence wrote about Iran with a small exception. Instead of applying the Vice President's words to the Iran situation – which was his intention – the words were modified to reflect what the American attitude regarding the Palestinian situation ought to be but never was, and may never be:

“Half a century ago, the world watched alien Jewish troops rob the Palestinians of their birthright of freedom. Millions of courageous Palestinians have been demanding the end of the occupation ever since. The brave Palestinians looked at America and found it to be the chief promoter of the occupation, as America's solidarity was not with the Palestinians but with the savage invaders that looted their properties”.

“Speaking at the United Nations, America's ambassador said that America made a mistake when it let a whiff of freedom enter the concentration camp known as the West Bank; the place where the Jews keep the Palestinian population repressed. And she promised that such a mistake will never happen again because we intend to maintain the veto like a permanent dagger dug into the heart of Palestinian freedom”.

“Shortly thereafter, America reiterated its unwavering support for the leaders of the occupation, flooding their coffers and arsenals with tens of billions of dollars in cash and deadly weapons. America also promised to issue sanctions against a population that was robbed of everything it used to own, and continues to live under the unbearable yoke of a savage Jewish occupation”.

“Unfortunately, many of our European partners, as well as the United Nations, have thus far failed to adopt our murderous ways, choosing instead to act like human beings. This is due to their unwarranted belief that the Palestinians are endowed with the unalienable right to chart their own future and determine their own destiny. How wrong can they be!”

“The president has said that colonial regimes must never again be defeated, and that our administration will continue to support the impressive Jewish occupation of Palestine. And we shall continue to demand that the leaders of the Palestinian people cease to ask for independence”.

“The truth is that we stand against these proud people because it is our nature to stay evil to the end. As the world knows by now, the United States is leading on the world stage to bring back the golden age of genocide and slavery”.

And so the question that the world seeks an answer for is this: Will the Jews manage to send America back to the depraved years of its genesis?

The Jews, who never left the Stone Age of four thousand years ago, know how to mimic every modern moment as modernity progresses, while staying rooted in the swamp of ancient bestiality.

But what the Americans do not know is that the Jews have perfected the art of getting someone to do the beastly work for them. When this is accomplished, they grab the spoils and let their benefactors get sucked into the swamp they never drained.

Here's what the fake Experts are still missing

You cannot get a more fake expert on Middle Eastern issues than Reuel Marc Gerecht. After all, the Jews had managed to get him hired at the CIA to advise on the Middle East, and that's enough to convince anyone he is a quack. But let's not hold this episode against him for, there's something more important to discuss.

Now cocooned as senior fellow where he belongs at the comical outfit calling itself Foundation for Defense of Democracies, Reuel Gerecht wrote an article under the title: “The Worst Thing for Iran's Protesters? U.S. Silence,” published on January 3, 2018 in the New York Times.

Gerecht's problem is that he is too steeped in the Judeo-Yiddish culture to see the world as it is. Instead, he sees the world through what may be called the “binary prism,” to coin a new term. A real prism is a multi-faceted device that's made of glass. It separates the components of white light into the colors of the rainbow. Thus, to say that someone sees the world through a binary prism means that he sees the world in only two colors: black and white. That is, to Reuel Gerecht and those like him, there are people “with us” and people who are “against us.” Other than that, there are no shades of gray and no other colors, according to them.

Because the current Iranian regime is opposed to Israel's policies, Gerecht considers it fundamentally evil, which means it cannot be reformed. Thus, the way to deal with it is to engage it in a do or die battle. To use other terms it is imperative to provoke the current Iranian regime into a fight, and carry the fight to the death.

Now, my friend, if for a moment, you allow your imagination to expand the definition of slavery from that of owning a person's physical body to owning their mental processes, you'll be able to imagine a Jew – born into the faith or converted to it – as being a mental slave to the Judeo-Yiddish collective. And you'll find that this is where Reuel Gerecht stands; a place from where he drew the ideas that went into the following passage:

“When you read about Iran, mentally substitute the names of other disreputable regimes. For example, John Kerry tweeted: 'this much is clear: it's an Iranian moment and not anyone else's.' Would Mr. Kerry have said the same about Poland under Communism or black South Africans under apartheid? Would anyone in good conscience have recommended that the correct approach toward Gen. Jaruzelski or Prime Minister Botha was to remain quiet and do nothing? What explains this glaring moral incongruity on the part of so many Westerners when it comes to Iran?”

Poor Reuel! This lad's Judeo-Yiddish upbringing caused him to make two colossal mistakes. First, he failed to mention Israel at all. Second, he mixed apples and oranges. He doesn't know that the difference between what's happening in Iran and what used to happen in Poland and South Africa, is that Iranians are having a dispute with other Iranians. What's unfolding in Iran at this time is a domestic dispute that got a little out of hand.

What differentiates this situation from Poland and South Africa is that the Polish people and the black South Africans were governed against their will by foreign powers––the Soviet Union in Poland, and remnants of defunct colonial powers in South Africa––that might have received help from a handful of local collaborators.

What makes the Israel-Palestine situation even more horrendous than Poland or South Africa, is that the Jews––whether they live in Israel or outside of it––are single-mindedly dedicated to work on the genocidal ethnic cleansing of the indigenous Palestinian population. They are feverishly carrying on with the task of replacing the Palestinians with Jews of every ethnicity, plucked from every snake-pit around the world.

Upon examination, you'll find that many of the Jews who settle in the occupied West Bank of Palestine come from America, supported financially by several sources. There is the money that's raised privately in America. There are the tax exempt charitable donations. And there is the money pipeline that connects Israel to the American Treasury. This says that Israel is the terror arm of an America that's still genocidal. It is the America whose roots firmed in the genocide of the indigenous population, and the slavery of African human beings.

Handicapped by the binary mentality, the Jews and the Americans they have been “educating” for three generations, cannot understand the people of the Middle East whose vision of the world is equipped with a multi-faceted prism that shows all colors and all shades. That is, even if Reuel Gerecht were not the quack that he is, he couldn't possibly give good advice on Middle Eastern issues.

Is this what America has been reduced to?

Guess who went from being liberator of peoples and builder of shattered lives the world over, to being spectator sitting on the sidelines, and a cheerleader of lost causes. You guessed it; it's the United States of America.

Bear in mind it is generally accepted that no publication in America reflects the country's thinking like the Washington Post. What its editors express is taken to be the expression of the nation itself. And so, the students who watch and study the American scene, do themselves a great deal of good by spending time going over the work produced by the Washington Post's editors; something they add to their pile of research.

What students have been seeing over the last few decades was the gradual diminution of America. They witnessed a nation that used to be a dignified storehouse of everything that human beings desired to have, gradually shrivel to become a moral pauper. It stands now at such a low level of pettiness, it gets excited and jumps for joy in celebration upon learning that someone next door or far away got hit with misfortune.

You see an example of this kind of performance in the editorial that was published in the Washington Post under the title: “The West should support the protesters in Iran,” printed on January 1, 2018. Also published on that same day was a column written by Benny Avni. It came under the title: “With the new protests in Iran, this is no time for the West to stay quiet,” published in the New York Post.

Benny Avni is a member of what came to be known as the mob of Jewish pundits. This is a group that has managed to turn itself into the wellspring of mediocre and evil ideas from which America has been drinking for half a century. The effect has been that America grew smaller and meeker while the group and its protégé – Israel – grew larger and hungrier. Thus, the more fingers America gave the Jews, the more arms they demanded to have, and the more America gave to them.

This is why, when reading the Avni column in the New York Post, and then reading the editorial in the Washington Post, you get the feeling that you've entered an echo chamber. And that's where you hear every utterance produced by a member of the mob hit you twice, usually in two slightly different versions.

For example, whereas Avni in New York says: “The Iranians need our help,” the editors in Washington echo: “The European leaders should speak up.” As can be seen, these sayings are also offshoots of the two titles which are almost identical. In fact, one title blares: “no time for the West to stay quiet;” and the other blares: “the West should support the protesters”.

Here is another echo expressed in two variants. There is the New York Avni version that goes like this: “the protesters want to scrap the whole system.” And there is the editors' Washington version that goes like this: “the odds that the protesters will trigger a revolution are long”.

And here is one more example of two variants produced by the same noise. There is the Avni version that goes: “The destruction of posters of Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei.” And there is the editors' version that goes: “a nationwide uprising directed squarely at the rule of Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei”.

That pattern is carried throughout the two pieces of work. They show how much America has been reduced, and how much it has absorbed the mob culture of the Jewish pundits. In fact, the rabbis who were put in charge of taking over America more than five decades ago said openly at the time that their mission was to “educate” the American public on the ways of the Jews. It is now obvious that they succeeded beyond anything that anyone had envisaged when those words were spoken.

Hidden from the public at the time, was also the purpose of the Jewish education that the rabbis talked about. In fact when they said education, people thought they meant something noble and uplifting. As it turned out, however, Jewish education meant brainwashing the public to pave the way for the Jewish leaders to monopolize the institutions of America and for putting those institutions to work in the service of Israel and only Israel.

Even that was not their ultimate goal. What they had in mind then and have it now is the use of American power to destroy every progress that a neighbor of Israel manages to score.

But because it became increasingly clear that they will never achieve that goal, the Jews resigned themselves to the idea of sitting like spectators and watching the show – at least for now. They dragged America to the seat adjacent to theirs and “educated” its elites on how to root for the self-destructive moves that a neighbor may inflict on the self once in a while.

This stance may be in line with the great Jewish tradition trumpeted in the Old Testament; it is hardly a noble stance for a has-been superpower. Wake up, America and build-up some self-respect.

Let 2018 be the Year to bury the Demagogues

Demagogues are people who make gains – of whatever kind – by scaring people. The larger the group of people they scare and the deeper the fright they inflict on them, the bigger the gain they make.

The biggest scary prank to hit the North American Continent since the 1938 Orson Welles's radio adaptation of HG Wells's 1898 novel, War of the Worlds, was the Year 2000 scare(Y2K) about the computers of the world failing to process all the zeros of the upcoming millennium, and crashing. Self-certified experts came out the various zombie graves to collect the checks that deep-pocket media conglomerates were handing out to anyone that would come up with a new idea to scare their audiences.

And so, the Y2K zombies came up with all sorts of scenarios about planes falling from the sky at midnight on December 31, 1999 at the moment when the on-board computers will click the number 2000. All sorts of other scenarios were also told about people getting stranded in the elevators of high-rises and dying before they could be rescued. And many more such horror scenarios were imagined and thrown at a public that had no way to verify the soundness of these predictions.

Well, scaring the public and getting paid for it is happening again. This can be verified by reading the article that came under the title: “The threat of an electromagnetic attack” and the subtitle: “Why the Electric Power Research Institute is wrong about the peril in an attack on the electric grid.” It was written by William Graham and Peter Vincent Pry, and published on December 28, 2017 in The Washington Times.

The two authors express their outrage at what they call the media campaign launched by the Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI) “promoting bogus studies grossly underestimating threats from electromagnetic pulse (EMP).” In fact, Graham and Pry want the public to believe that EPRI “churns-out junk science,” and that the EMP threat is real and serious enough to rank at the existential level.

To buttress their argument, William Graham and Peter Vincent Pry stack their own credentials against those of the EPRI experts. They say that the latter “have no expertise in electromagnetic pulse phenomenology or effects; and never worked professionally on electromagnetic pulse.” They go on to say that: “Strangely, the EPRI experts never asked the EMP Commission to review their work”.

As it happens, William Graham was (but is no more) chairman of the congressional EMP Commission, and Peter Vincent Pry was (but is no more) EMP Commission chief of staff. Thus, Graham and Pry whose professional association with EMP was on the political side of the equation rather than the scientific side, are questioning the competence of the EPRI experts whose professional life was (and remains) vested in the research of all branches of science relating to EMP. And yet, despite those realities, Graham and Pry accuse EPRI of being “not only technically unsound, but intellectually dishonest.” Go figure.

But let's give the two characters the benefit of the doubt and go along with their thesis, if only to see what other evidence they have that might suggest their political background dowers them with qualifications able to raise them above the scientific research of the EPRI experts.

Well, William Graham and Peter Vincent Pry happen to have produced what they believe is valid evidence. These are 9 blackouts that occurred in 5 countries around the globe. They list 4 of them in the United States, 2 in India, and 1 each in Indonesia, Brazil and Italy. As to the reason why the blackouts occurred, they list 3 as being caused by voltage overload, 3 by equipment failure, 2 by lightening and 1 by contact with a tree branch. But they listed not a single blackout as being caused by EMP.

It seems that political training and political experience are telling these people they can go from a blackout caused by tree branches and the like, to the conclusion that EMP will kill the national power grid. If that's what they really believe, they need to be told that science does not work this way. A scientific approach would have discussed phenomena that come close to simulating the effect of EMP on a power grid. In fact, one such occurrence took place not too far from where they stand.

It happened that a geomagnetic storm hit the Earth in 1989. More than any other utility, Hydro Quebec absorbed its full force, causing some damage but no fatalities or injuries. The utility responded by taking measures to protect the grid against such occurrences, and the result has been that the system withstood all geomagnetic hits that occurred thereafter.

What needs to be said is that no utility operating a local or national grid anywhere in the world is left without the measures that Hydro Quebec has implemented.

All grids are as safe as they can be to EMP. How vulnerable they are to digital hacking is another matter. Also, how safe society is from the scaremongers, is a debate we ought to have. Let’s begin by denouncing the demagogues.

They bought a Persian Carpet that may not fly

What a way to start the new year! The editors of the Weekly Standard thought they saw a UFO, and when they tried to identify it, their delusional eyes told them it was a flying carpet of Persian origin. And so they gathered all the intellectual currency they had in the bank, and used it to buy what they thought was a carpet that will fly.

However, they may soon discover that the thing was an illusion. You'll see how this can happen when you read the editorial that came under the title: “Iran Protests Show Tehran Has Lost the Advantage” and the subtitle: “The U.S. administration should seize it.” The piece was written by the editors of the Weekly Standard, and published on December 30, 2017 on their website.

The editors began their presentation with an opus so grandiose, it would make Aida's March of Triumph sound like a lone shepherd playing the flute to entertain his sheep. Look at the following passage and imagine the music: “The evidence is irrefutable: Obama got Iran wrong. So did the foreign-policy establishment. So did the New York Times and every center-left media outlet in America and Europe.” Did they leave out someone?

Because Obama got it wrong, they went on to explain, the 2009 protest in Iran did not morph into the flying carpet it was meant to be. But eight years later, the UFO they now see hover over Teheran has the potential to turn into a real flying carpet, they promise. This will happen, they ascertain, if the current occupant of the White House would recite the correct magical words correctly; something they believe he started doing already.

The reason why Obama got it wrong, they believe, is that he was eager to conclude a nuclear deal with the leaders of Iran; a project that came to fruition after six years of negotiations. But the deal is a bad thing for America and the world, they say, citing a number of reasons why. The problem, however, is that most of the reasons they have on the list, center on their dislike of the regime in Tehran rather than the provisions of the agreement. In fact, they even hint that the whole deal is not working well for Iran … so much so, that the regime found it necessary to flout it.

More than that, the evidence that the deal is not working for Iran, is here for everyone to see, they cry out. It is that the UFO of 2009 has reappeared over Tehran, they shout. And that's how they describe the event:

“Thousands now protest the regime. Mainstream media reports have implied that the people are protesting the government's economic policies. It's true that ordinary Iranians are angry about high unemployment; the lifting of sanctions hasn't resulted in the predicted economic opportunity. But these protests are about more than economics. Crowds are chanting 'We don't want an oppressive government!' and 'Death to the dictator!' Posters of Ali Khamenei are being defaced and toppled around the country … The protesters are angry about more than the country's struggling economy”.

So then, what is there to do? The truth is that the editors of the Weekly Standard have no new ideas to contribute. It's because they don't know what can be done or what must be done. They simply laud the current administration for refusing to follow in the footsteps of the previous administration. They say the following in this regard: “Already the State Department has condemned the arrest of peaceful protesters, and President Trump has registered strong support for the protesters.” And they are content with that.

But they believe this is already having an effect in Iran. That's how they put it: “For the first time, the regime finds itself at a disadvantage. Since the administration refused to recertify the nuclear deal, the U.S. is free to reimpose sanctions and pull out of the deal. A return to sanctions would do harm to the country's economy and the regime's authority. That will put Khamenei's government in an impossible position and may lead to its dissolution and a true Persian democracy”.

And that will be the flying carpet of their dream. Believing that America was outsmarted at every turn by Iran, the editors of the Weekly Standard wish for Iran to become as dysfunctional as the American Congress. They also wish for America's executive to become as smart as that of Iran.

The Weekly Standard editors feel that if Iran adopts a system of democracy, the move will start the process of Iran's decay, which is why they root for democracy to happen there. In fact, they believe that the UFO they see over Tehran at this time is the omen they have been waiting for.

But there is an alternative scenario that might explain what they are seeing. Could it be that the Iranians, who are Shia, became convinced it will be better for all Muslims if Iran would reconcile with the Sunni World rather than continue to confront it on the battlefield?

Rather than approach Saudi Arabia with a request to reconcile, thus look like they are begging for something, it may be that the Iranians chose to let a small group of their people stage a protest. The plan might have been for the group to demand a change in the country's direction, and the government bowing to its own people. The expectation might have been that when the planned changes are spelled out, the Sunni World will be pleased to know what they are, and move to work for the reconciliation of all Muslims.

But then, a small wrinkle happened to the plan. Things got a little out of hand, the demonstration grew bigger than planned and two people were killed in the melee. If, despite all this, the government can get things under control, the implementation of the plan will resume, and the Iranians will have outsmarted America's elites one more time.
