Johnny Come Lately Imagining Fictional Threats

Imagine you live in a town that is to some extent isolated from the rest of the world. The town is composed of several clans of extended families but even then, the intermarriage among the clans makes the entire town feel like one super extended family.

One day, a small family of newcomers who claim to have ancient roots in this town, comes to settle and live in it. Before you know it, every one of the newcomers begins a whisper campaign whose aim is to drive the wedge between the individuals, and between the clans. The newcomers are so relentless at what they do, you’d think they are powered, not by fuel from this world, but by a high-octane brew that could have come from the satanic underworld of the wretched and the doomed.

Does that sound familiar to you, my friend? It is the story of the Jews who, for thousands of years have gone from town to town where they spread hate and calumny of the sort that ended badly for them. From ancient Persia and ancient Egypt, to Russia and Eastern Europe of the Middle Ages, to Western Europe and America of the modern era, the Jews dug the graves that continue to entomb them.

They are at this time working furiously in America, trying in vain to slander the Arabs and the Muslims, aiming to start a religious war between Christians and Muslims. They believe that such war will turn out to be the predicted Armageddon that will allow them to inherit the Earth and everything as well as everyone in it. One of the Jewish leaders at the forefront digging the Jewish graves, is Jonathan S. Tobin.

Tobin’s latest work in this area came under the title: “Can the West be honest about the Islamist threat?” and the subtitle: “For 20 years, Americans have failed to adequately confront radical Islam as an ideology and faith. The fall of Afghanistan is a reminder that defending liberal values requires truth-telling.” Tobin printed his article in the Jewish News Syndicate, the publication he edits.

If you want proof that Tobin’s mouth is separated from the operation of his brain, here is a passage from his article that should convince you:

“Nothing has ever provided better proof that Americans are, on the whole, fair-minded people than the fact there was no wave of violence or hate crimes against American Muslims. Throughout the last two decades, as FBI hate-crime statistics have consistently shown, attacks on Muslims remained rare and represent a fraction of the total of anti-Semitic incidents that were recorded during this same period”.

Reading that passage in the context of Tobin’s entire article where he asserts that the Jews are the good guys whereas the Muslims are the bad guys, but then says that the Americans are a fair-minded people because they hate the Jews more than they hate the Muslims, should tell you that Tobin has a cavity where he is supposed to have a brain, or if he has a brain, it has no control whatsoever over his mouth.

In fact, if Tobin had only a handful of active brain cells in that cavity, he would have asked himself why it is that the fair-minded Americans who welcomed and embraced both the Jews and the Muslims, ended up showing a clear preference for the Muslims? In so doing, he would have opened a whole new vista to preoccupy his intellectual pursuits rather than remain where he is, locked in a dark box with only a pack of stale Jewish talking points that the American people have increasingly refused to feed on.

Opening that vista for himself, Jonathan Tobin would have avoided speaking like the culturally bankrupted dude who is latching unto any straw that could make him appear acceptable to a public that no longer believes in anything he or anyone like him, says. The following is a montage in two parts of excerpts from Tobin’s article that show the extent of his bankruptcy:

First part: “Biden added that the US would continue to stand for human rights and the women of Afghanistan. That kind of meaningless rhetoric is more of an insult to the people he left behind than anything else. America is no longer in any position to do a thing to help them”.

Here, Jonathan Tobin rebukes President Biden for engaging in meaningless rhetoric. It is meaningless, he says, because Biden is trying to cash in on a situation he can no longer influence.

Second part: “Just as some who deplore terrorism exclude Palestinian [action] against Israel from their concerns, the same people are more concerned that the Jewish state’s liberal policies that ensure freedom for gays be used as a reason to refute attacks on the legitimacy of Zionism”.

This time, it is Jonathan Tobin himself who is seen to engage in a rhetoric of his own. It is slightly different from that of Biden, but one that is just as meaningless. It is meaningless because Tobin is trying to cash in on the habit of Jewish Americans to praise Israel in the hope that this will rub off on them, and enhance their image in America.

In asking the West to be honest about the Islamist threat, Jonathan Tobin has shown that he doesn’t know something that’s well known to the West. In fact, like the clans of the town that have been together from the beginning, the West has interacted with Islam during good times and bad times.

Each party has won a few battles and lost a few. Each party knows the strengths and weaknesses of the other. Each has a great respect for the other, and no Johnny come lately who’s equipped with a foul mouth is going to change that.
